ÃÊ·Ï Purpose: This study was conducted to explore reorganizing the work life in experienced nurses with turnover
intention. Methods: A qualitative research method was adopted for the study. The participants were five experienced
nurses who had served for five years or more at three general hospitals. The data were collected from
iterative work through in-depth interviews and observations and analyzed using Giorgi¡¯s phenomenological
approach. Field notes and research notes were used with follow-up interviews and dialog between the authors
to enhance the validation. Results: The participants experienced early and late transitions within a dual structure
of frustration and hope, dependence and independence, and activity and passivity. Four common constituents
emerged and early transition included retrospection on threshold and reality assessments. Late transition included
promoting a balance and growing up. Conclusion: The efforts of the participants to cope with the turnover intention
were mainly on an individual level, and these experiences varied from the novice stage to the career stage.
Therefore, intervention programs should be developed based on an effective support system and a practical
curriculum for each stage of the nurses¡¯ careers at the institutional level so that they can successfully transition
to a working environment and securely root in the nursing profession.
